Allow me to introduce myself. I’m Katie, a whole-life leadership coach. After fifteen years navigating leadership roles in both public and private sectors - including serving in the San Francisco Mayor's Office of Economic Development - while building a family and maintaining deep community involvement, I've discovered what so many of us learn the hard way: trying to meet external expectations in every domain is the fastest path to burning out in all of them, and that the answer to a more sustainable, joyful, and impactful existence across all the spheres of our lives comes from living in alignment with our deepest values and inner clarity.
I’m writing to spark some inspiration on setting some intentions for this season in your life..
We’re currently entering the summer season, with the quick approach of the summer solstice. How does reaching the half point of the year make you feel?
To me, the season of summer lights me up, as it represents warmth, joy, fun and freedom. There is true beauty in the expansiveness of the summer season. Sometimes, a break is needed to rejuvenate and become re-inspired for the next steps in our goals; allow yourself to savor the sparkle and delight of summer! We’ve all been primed since our childhood years to feel the summer as a reset opportunity. In the same way, marking the changes of the literal seasons can provide an opportunity to notice where we are in the changing seasons of our lives. What is most needed for you right now?
No matter where you find yourself, our work is always the same: pause, seek your own inner wisdom, and use this clarity to motivate your actionable next steps.
Here is the 3 Step Process I’ve done for myself and my clients to take stock of where you are at this moment, and what is needed next (whether for the summer season or for changing seasons of life):
Carve some time out for yourself to reflect on what is happening in your life. What is going well? Where can you honor your own resilience? Get centered in the real context of your life right now.
Use this reflection for the basis point to set intentions for the new season: who do you want to be? How do you want to feel? What is calling to you?Next, do a mind map: what actions would you like to take in support of living your intentions? Pick 2-3 to set as goals.
Last, and perhaps most importantly, what is one small step you can take right now?
